Dental Veneers

Dental Veneers are a versatile, minimally-invasive and long-lasting solution for correcting various dental imperfections. These thin, custom-made shells are placed over your teeth, covering flaws such as chips, gaps, and uneven teeth, resulting in a flawless and natural-looking smile.

Custom-Made Porcelain and Composite Veneers to Enhance Your Smile

Are minor teeth flaws such as chips or cracks getting in the way of your smile? Then dental veneers may be able to help. Made of porcelain or composite resin, dental veneers are thin tooth-coloured shells that cover teeth imperfections to restore the appearance of your smile.

As such, we take a personalised approach to dentistry, combining the latest techniques and technology with quality dental care to promote full mouth and overall body health. Whether you’re looking for cosmetic solutions like dental veneers and teeth whitening or missing teeth treatments like dental crowns and bridges, we have you covered.

Reasons You May Need Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are a versatile cosmetic treatment which can help resolve a range of aesthetic issues by covering flaws or adjusting tooth length, size, and shape to meet your smile goals. They can be applied to one tooth or multiple teeth, depending on the problem you’re trying to correct.

Some of the reasons you may need dental veneers include

  • Discoloured or stained teeth
  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Gapped teeth
  • Worn down teeth
  • Misaligned or irregularly shaped teeth

Dental Veneers Process

The dental veneer process depends on the type of dental veneers you choose; porcelain or composite. Composite veneers generally take only one appointment to complete, involving minimal to no tooth preparation, and composite resin is applied and shaped directly on the teeth. Whereas porcelain veneers may take longer because the porcelain is custom-made for your teeth after they are shaped and prepared.

Here’s what you can expect during our dental veneers process

Composite Veneers

Composite veneers are made of a tooth-coloured composite resin material. The application process for composite veneers involves

  • Etching your teeth with a solution to prepare them for the bonding process. This helps create a rough texture which allows the resin material to adhere better to the tooth.
  • The composite material will then be directly applied onto the teeth, sculpting and shaping it to achieve the desired size and appearance.
  • A curing light is used to harden the composite resin. Additional layers may be added to achieve the desired level of translucency and colour.
  • The veneers are then polished, and any necessary adjustments are made to ensure a proper fit and bite alignment.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers may involve one or two more appointments than composite.

Depending on what issues are being treated, the VENEERS can be done in Porcelain in house using our CEREC system, or Composite Resin This is often a single visit procedure. Local anaesthesia is often not required but will be used where required to ensure your comfort.

If more than one visit is required then the  process involves:

  • During the first appointment, our dentist will prepare the teeth by removing a thin layer of enamel from the front surface of the tooth. Local anaesthesia may be used to ensure your comfort during this process. This enamel removal is irreversible but a necessary step of the procedure to make room for the veneers and ensure a bespoke result.
  • Next, our dentist will take your tooth impressions to create your custom-made porcelain veneers. You will be fitted with temporary veneers until your new ones are ready.
  • We will call you in for your second appointment once your new veneers have been crafted. Our dentist will check the veneers fit and appearance before bonding them to your teeth with a special adhesive.

At Heathcote Dental Surgery, we perform a comprehensive consultation to assess your oral health and understand your aesthetic concerns before any procedure. We aim to offer a personalised treatment, focusing on your needs, comfort levels and preferences to ensure your expectations are met, and you leave our clinic happy and satisfied. We also provide aftercare and maintenance instructions so that you can extend the lifespan of your veneers with proper care.
